Welcome!
Hi everyone! I’m Patrice, the person who accidentally turned one excited LinkedIn post about Jim Cummins into this very nerdy little book club. 😄
I’m an international educator and language/cultural inclusion consultant, and I’ve spent the last decade teaching in multilingual schools in different parts of the world. I grew up speaking English, learned Spanish & German growing up, then Mandarin, Moroccan Arabic, and French through the places I have lived and the people who generously let me sound ridiculous while learning their languages.
A lot of my work now is about helping schools move past “we celebrate multilingualism” toward a clearer understanding of what language inclusion can actually look like in daily learning. I am especially excited to read this book with people who want to connect theory to the real messiness of school life, share examples from their contexts, and respectfully disagree when the ideas get complicated.
Please introduce yourself below! Tell us:
- where you are joining from
- your role/context
- the languages or learners you work with
- one question or hope you are bringing into this book club
So happy you’re here.
